2017 Kia Sportage Safety Rating and Features
Safety is an important factor pretty much everyone considers when looking for a new vehicle. Kia recognizes this, and has made it the company’s goal to produce some of the safety vehicles on the roads today. The newly redesigned 2017 Kia Sportage safety rating and features help to prove just how safe the company is making its vehicles.
2017 Kia Sportage Government Safety Rating
The two main crash-testing organizations each gave the 2017 Sportage their highest rating awarded. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the crossover an overall score of five stars. In addition to the NHTSA score, the IIHS gave the Sportage the much-sought-after designation of Top Safety Pick Plus. These are two of the top safety honors a vehicle can earn.
Kia Sportage Safety Features
Helping to supplement the Sportage’s impressive safety scores is a long list of systems and features. Every 2017 Sportage model comes equipped with a rearview camera, antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, hill-start assist, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags.
In addition to these standard features, the higher Sportage trim levels offer several additional safety systems. The crossover can be equipped with a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alerts, forward collision warning and mitigation system with automatic braking, lane-departure warnings and both front and rear parking sensors. Sportage models also offer the UVO telematics system, which includes emergency assistance, stolen vehicle tracking and parental controls that allow owners to set limitations for learning drivers.
